South African VAT
Standard rate 15%. Categories follow SARS VAT 201 periods.
Financial year
Profit and loss, and the current-year figure on the balance sheet, follow this year. Most South African companies run from 1 March to the end of February.

Lock dates
Close a month once the bank, VAT and invoices are finished. Nothing dated on or before the lock can be posted — invoices, bills, credits, payments or bank matches.
No month is locked. You can still post into any date.
